Deep Tissue Massage manipulates the deeper layers of muscle and body tissue. It is typically used as a focused treatment for specific areas of discomfort or tension.
Melissa Hollan, LMT, is a graduate of Denver Integrative Massage School’s 600 hour Certified Massage Therapy program which teaches Western Massage techniques (Swedish, Deep Tissue, Myofascial, Trigger Point, Sports, & Prenatal) along with the best in Eastern Massage techniques (Thai Yoga Massage, assisted stretches, Acupressure, Chinese meridians and breathwork.) Previously, she was certified through a 300 hour massage therapy program in Texas. She received additional training in Ashiatsu Massage in San Diego, California and regularly attends continuing education courses that have included spa treatments, aromatherapy and wellness practices. Melissa is also a graduate of the University of Calgary, where she received dual Bachelor’s degrees in English Literature and Education. She was an elementary school teacher for many years, and opened her first massage therapy practice and yoga studio in the coastal town of Rockport in 2005. She and her husband moved to Colorado several years ago and enjoy living in the friendly town of Salida and partaking of all of its amazing outdoor recreational opportunities.
